A year-on-year sell out two-week course at Central Saint Martins teaching basic design principles through project based learning.
When a friend and I noticed there weren’t any short courses delivering service design training (other than 2 days corporate workshops) we decided to set up our own two week course. We pitched the idea to our old university and they agreed incorporate us onto their educational programme.
We created a two-week course teaching basic user-centred design principles applied to creating and improving customer focused services. The course included live client briefs that students would work on in small groups. We invited organisations, including the Royal Society of Arts, Ealing Council and local SMEs, to participate and evaluate student projects and proposals.
A huge range of students from as far as Australia, Hong Kong and South America have taken part. Profiles ranged from management consultants, in house corporate designers as well as design students. The course remains over-subscribed year-on-year.
One of our partnering organisations said:
"What the students have produced is extraordinary. They have created more in a week than an external consultancy that we paid a lot of money to produce over a number of months."
